The Colonial Study Group
Gaining wisdom from Rudolf Steiner and Waldorf Education
"Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it,
begin it now." - Goethe
A dream.... to bring Waldorf Education and a school to Williamsburg.
What we can do....
is gather together an adult study group to study the
philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, Anthroposophy and Waldorf education.
We will begin it.... by meeting at Kinderhaus Toys, Village Shops at Kingsmill, 1915 Pocahontas Trail # A 8, Williamsburg. Please call 757-645-2980 for details.
Boldness has genius....
in Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925). Steiner was an
Austrian scientist, philosopher, artist, author and educator who developed
and founded the first Waldorf School in 1919 in Stuttgart, Germany.
Today there are well over 870 schools all over the world.
Power and magic....
is in the curriculum. "When children relate what
they learn to their own experience, they are interested and alive, and what
they learn becomes their own. Waldorf schools are designed to foster this
king of learning." Henry Barnes
Let us consider how this education works. "There is no early, forced
intellectualization; simple toys of natural materials are used to stimulate the
child's powers of fantasy and imagination. It is a balanced education of the
whole child of thinking, feeling, and willing. Teaching methods are based on
the child's natural stage of learning: imitation in the early years, a beloved
trusted authority figure in the middle years, and the intellectual search for truth
after puberty. There is a natural unity of art, science and moral/spiritual values
in the curriculum material." Lois Cusick
Begin it now.... The Colonial Study Group will be led by two certified
Waldorf Teachers, Miss Tiffeni Goesel of Williamsburg and Mrs. D'Anne
Dougherty of Newport News.
Begin it now.... A play group in the style of Waldorf will be forming this
Spring. Please visit Kinderhaus Toys website for updates, more info and
registration.
Begin it now and join us in the growing of Waldorf in Williamsburg.
